Dreamboats and Petticoats features the real story behind the popular songs and performers of the Fifties and early Sixties on which the musical Dreamboats and Petticoats is based.
This book is the story of rock ‘n’ roll in the UK with interviews with leading artists and bands like Cliff Richard and The Shadows, The Everly Bothers and singers such as Tommy Steele, Marty Wilde, Adam Faith and Billy Fury. Dreamboats and Petticoats, the book, is a nostalgic journey back to the age of espresso bars, skiffle and Mecca dance halls.
Dreamboats and Petticoats is a jukebox musical and was written by Laurence Marks and Maurice Gran. Alongside a forthcoming West End run, the show will tour the UK extensively in 2022.
About the author
Brian Southall worked as a journalist with Music Business Weekly, Melody Maker and Disc before joining A&M Records. He moved to EMI Records and EMI Music, where, during a 15 year career, he served in press, promotion, marketing, artist development and corporate communications.
From 1989 he was a consultant to Warner Music International, HMV Group and both the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) and the International Federation of the phonographic Industry (IFPI).
